Notice for AOL Subscribers using Exchange email from off-campus:
June 10, 2003

An issue involving Exchange access through Microsoft Outlook has developed in recent weeks. Some AOL users have complained that, as of May 17th, they have not been able to access their email from off-campus while connected through AOL. While network changes have not been officially confirmed by AOL, informal research by CIS technicians has revealed that this problem is not isolated to the UNH Exchange servers.

CIS would like to stress that this issue is a direct result of changes made by AOL on the AOL network. Nothing has been changed by CIS, nor can anything be done by CIS to circumvent this network change. Also of note, this AOL network change has affected other non-AOL mail servers. CIS has not been informed of any complications with POP3/SMTP access of the CISUnix email servers. Users who are experiencing difficulty accessing the Exchange servers are advised to consult AOL technical support for a resolution.

Since CIS has been unable to confirm the network change, we are unable to provide a solution to this problem. Until such a solution is developed, AOL subscribers can access their Exchange email through Outlook Web Access at https://exchange.unh.edu. Instructions for logging on to Web Access are located here.
