Forwarding email to your Exchange account..

If Outlook has been installed on your computer by CIS support staff, you may have opted to not forward all of your email accounts to your Exchange account at that time. If you would like to forward your email accounts, please follow the applicable instructions below.

Each individual account needs to be forwarded separately. Please open each of your email accounts and type the command (described below) appropriate for that account, to forward your email to Outlook.

In the examples below, "username" is your maple.unh.edu account, which is usually the same as your login for the AD domain. Examples: jdoe (for jdoe@maple.unh.edu) or sjb (for sjb@maple.unh.edu). To determine your maple account name, double-click on your name in the Global Address List, then select the E-mail Addresses tab.

For any VMS account (e.g. CUFS, HRS, unha, unhe, unhf, etc.):

    1. Log into your account through Term/QVTNet/WinQVT
    2. At the command prompt type mail and press enter.
    3. At the MAIL command prompt, type: set forward "username@maple.unh.edu"
    4. Press enter (you're done!)

(The username is not typed in italic, just shown here for emphasis.)

For any UNIX account (e.g. cisunix, pascal, etc.):

    1. Log into your account through Term/QVTNet/WinQVT (not Eudora)
    2. If you open to a menu, select Option 4 (Shell).
    3. At the command prompt, type: pico .forward
    4. Press enter (this opens a file where you type the command to forward this account)
    5. Type: username@maple.unh.edu
    6. Press Ctrl+X
    7. Type Y (to Save modified buffer?)
    8. Press Enter (accepts default-File name to write: .forward)
    9. You're done!

Alternately, you can forward a UNIX account by completing the webform found here.

Always send yourself a test message to each email address you forwarded to verify that the process is successful. Each test message you send should appear in Outlook.

If you have any questions or problems, please do not hesitate to contact either Pete Larimer (2-4726), David Bird (2-4868), or Manny MacMillan (2-3671).
