Outlook 2003 Mail


Sending Mail
To send an e-mail to someone, click on the New icon (outlined in red below).
Important Note: The Inbox must be open for this to work. Before clicking the New icon, be sure that the current view is the Mail view and the Inbox folder has been selected, as is pictured below.

Once the New icon has been clicked, a window similar to the one shown below will pop up. You can either type in the recipient's name/e-mail address, or if the person is in one of the address books you can click on To, and find the name in the list. If a person's name is in the list, it becomes underlined in the To or Cc box. When you are finished writing your message, click on the Send button, which is located below the File menu. If you choose to not send the message right away, click on the save icon and the file will be placed in your Drafts folder.


Creating an Automatic Signature Line:
A signature line is an automatically placed at the end of a message. To create one, click on Tools, then Options. Once the Options window is shown, click on the Mail Format tab. A window similar to the one below will be shown. Click on Signatures.


To create a new signature, simply click on New and follow the directions.


Important Note: If you use only one signature for most messages, you may want to set a default signature by choosing one from the drop down menus in the Mail Format window next to Signature for New Messages and Signature for Replies and Forwards. If you do not set a default signature, one can be inserted into any message by simply clicking on Insert, AutoText, Signature, and then the name of your signature.


Viewing Additional Mailboxes

Use the following steps to view additional mailboxes:

First, click Tools, E-Mail Accounts. A window similar to the one below will pop up. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, and click Next.


A window similar to the one below will pop up. Click the Change button and then More Settings...


In the window below select the Advanced tab.


Click Add and type additional mailboxes from the Global Address List.
